A Page For Kimberly

This is the next to the last page for me in the journal round robin that I'm playing in. Kimberly wanted her pages in blue and this is my addition to her book.

I love using shadow background and then filling in the elements with 3d embellishment. It just seems to add so much to a page.

This is a close up of the rosette I created with a spiral quote from JRR Tolkien.

On the back of the page I use some stamps from Rubbernecker stamps. To keep the ethereal feel I stamped onto scraps of the same paper as the background. I really like how it blends but still kind of pops!
I hope Kimberly likes it.

"LWD Design Team Showcase: "Tim Holtz Dies"

Exciting News Everyone, I was chosen to be one of the New Design Team Members for

If you have never heard of Lone Wolf Designs its owned by Kris Whittaker, who has a wonderful online shop where you can save up to 25% off of some of today's wonderful art supplies.
You can visit her online store here.

So as a design team member its my week to share some art.
Being one of the owners of the All Things Tim Yahoo Group I found it only fitting for my first outing as a DT member to feature Tim Holtz.
I was pleased to be able to show off art that I created for an online round robin I am currently playing in with several other players.
This members theme was Time for Love.

As you can see I used the Tim Holtz Pocket watch die, his On the Edge Steam punk die along with other embellishments from his Ideology line.
I also included a pair of Train Tickets from 7 Gypsies that I inked and distressed.

To create the watch I cut one layer of grunge board without the Mover and Shaper sized circle for the back and cut several layers with the largest circle in place in order to get the opening and give the piece the depth I was after.
Since the Steam punk gears are all on one piece I cut them apart and painted each one a different color.

As I stacked and glued the pieces together I inserted one piece of the gears between the different layers so they would be all on a different levels and give the piece some real depth. I also cut a solid watch from the grunge board packaging to use as a faux crystal on the watch which I insert before the final top layer.

On the edge of the page I also use Tim Holtz Tissue tape
and his new Distress Paint in Barn Door Red.

Here is a close up of the watch gears which were also painted with Rangers Adirondak Acrylic Paint Dabbers. You can see the different layers of grunge I used to create the watch case itself.
There is also a Grunge board heart in the mix.

On the back of the page I used Tim's Heart Wings Die cut from Grunge board that has also been covered in Tissue tape.  I like covering the grunge board with the tape first before cutting the wings so you get an already trimmed piece ready to go.
The crown and large heart I left plain and painted with the dabbers.

You can get all of these great supplies and more from the Lone Wolf Designs Store.

A Page for Eileen

The current journal page I completed was for my online friend Eileen.  She picked "faces" as the them for her journal. I thought about this one for some time. I wanted to make a page that would make her smile and think happy thoughts.
Well what I finally came up with was the vintage faces of comedy!

I love this stamped phrase I thought it would be perfect for the page.

8 different faces of Comedy cover the front of the page. How many can you name?

This is the back of the page that I covered in Tim's paper which list places in NY where Eileen lives. I created a pocket and included a tag that says Laugh! I finished the page off with a Happiness embellishment.

I used a Laurel and Hardy stamped image as the on the back of my journal page and its kinds become a theme for my book.

What better way to put my "stamp" on Eileen's book than include their comedic faces on the back of her page. I love the way it turned out and hope she does too.
